Expand Your

Mindfulness Toolbox

Plant-based mindfulness offers a concrete medium through which clients can engage somatically while remaining regulated.

This training introduces horticultural therapy principles as an additional tool for delivering the modalities you already use, without risk to fidelity.

Whether you practice DBT, CBT, trauma-informed care, or skills-based psychotherapy, plant engagement can function as a delivery vehicle for mindfulness skills.

What You Will Learn

This training includes 120 minutes of structured instructional content covering:

Foundations of Horticultural Therapy: Clinical scope, mechanisms of sensory engagement, and theoretical foundations, including Attention Restoration, Stress Reduction, and Biophilia.

Applied Plant-Based Mindfulness: Somatic engagement, adapting plant-based tools for anxiety, trauma, ADHD, emotional dysregulation, and structuring 5–15 minute interventions within sessions.

Ethical Integration: Addressing scope-of-practice boundaries, safety considerations, documentation standards, and integration of plant-based mindfulness with CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused treatments while preserving fidelity to core treatment components.

What to Expect

This training blends structured lecture with hands-on experiential learning.

You will receive didactic instruction on the foundations of therapeutic horticulture and the mechanisms by which sensory engagement supports nervous system regulation.

You will engage in guided plant-based mindfulness activities that demonstrate how to structure and implement these tools in session.

The hands-on component is directly connected to the instructional content, ensuring you leave with both conceptual understanding and practical skill.
