As a dedicated therapist, you likely find yourself grappling with how to convey the essence of mindfulness and emotion regulation to your clients. You’ve tried countless techniques—worksheets, videos, random metaphors—but these often miss the mark.
In this training, you will learn seven brief, plant-based interventions that help clients build emotion regulation skills through experiential practice. Activities demonstrate how to teach core DBT skills, including Mindfulness of Current Emotions, Checking the Facts, Opposite Action, and Problem-Solving, using plants as accessible tools for reflection, awareness, and behavior change. Each intervention is grounded in DBT principles and connected to the theoretical foundations of Horticultural Therapy.
The Plant-Based DBT Skills Workshop offers 3 continuing education contact hours with an immersive experience that equips therapists with practical, hands-on techniques for teaching emotion regulation.
This is not just another training; it is a comprehensive immersion into the world of therapeutic horticulture, integrated seamlessly with DBT principles. You will gain immediate access to intervention lists, research tools, and collaborative discussions with fellow therapists.
We will cover emotion identification, reality testing through Checking the Facts, impulse control with Opposite Action, and Problem Solving…all taught through therapeutic horticulture techniques!
By the end of this workshop, you will have a toolkit tailored for your clients, enabling you to foster emotional awareness, regulation, and a renewed sense of purpose in your practice.
