COPING SKILLS FORÂ BIG EMOTIONS
Â
Do any of these
sound familiar?
Â
You might notice that your emotions feel intense and can shift quickly throughout the day.
You may find yourself:
- Feeling overwhelmed by how fast your emotions change
- Saying yes when you want to say no, then feeling guilty, resentful, or both
- Being told you’re “too much” when you’re trying to be clear or assertive
- Struggling to feel grounded in who you are, especially in relationships
- Appearing “fine” on the outside, while feeling deeply unsettled or disconnected inside
- Reacting strongly to small moments, like a look, tone, or shift in someone’s energy
- Feeling empty, lonely, or unsure of your worth
- Wanting to feel accepted by others and by yourself
- Holding everything in until it builds into overwhelm or emotional explosion
- Having moments where things feel so heavy, you’re not sure how to keep going
These experiences are more common than you might think and they’re exactly the kinds of patterns DBT skills-based classes are designed to help with.
